LAWRENCEVILLE Bridgeport Red Hill went on a 22-7 run in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a rout as it defeated Mount Pulaski 66-50 for the championship of the Lawrence County Capital Classic in boys basketball action on Saturday night. Travis Stoelting connected on 3 of 7 shots from 3-point range and totaled 15 points to lead Bridgeport (3-1). Turnovers were a major factor.

Bridgeport had just 14, compared to 25 for Mount Pulaski. Seth Hill and Jeremy Hahn each had 11 points to pace Mount Pulaski's at-tcick Mount Pulaski (2-2) lost to Van-dalia 74-62 earlier despite 16 points by Hall. Although Bryson and his teammates cooled off in the second half, Peoria Central never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way. Chris Rice, who joined Bryson on the all-tournament team, grabbed 11 rebounds for Stephen Decatur.

The 6-2 forward played a key role for Stephen Decatur, which won the tournament without starting center Montreal Pena and sixth-man Justin Bennett, who were sidlined because of disciplinary reasons. "Rice was the MVP of tonight's game," Crews said. "He did a great job on defense and he rebounded well." Capturing third place was Mac-Arthur, which shot 67 percent from the floor in a 90-65 victory over Paris. Junior guard Michael Phillips scored 26 points to lead three players in double figures. Center Romano Dees popped in 22 and forward Kin Yanders added 20.

MacArthur Coach Brett Williams was pleased to see his team rebound from Friday night's stunning semifinal loss to Peoria Central, in which it blew a 17-point second-half lead. "I was very pleased with the way the kids played," Williams said. "Before the game I was concerned because the locker room was very somber. But the kids really responded with a solid performance." Josh Virotsko returned to the Paris lineup after missing the first two games because of disciplinary reasons. He scored a team-high 17 points.

In the fifth-place game, Zach Freeman made 11 of 14 shots and scored 24 points to lift Mount Zion to a 56-50 victory over Eisenhower. Mount Zion (2-1) opened the third quarter with a 16-5 run to MOUNT ZION Normal West erupted for 33 points in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach as it defeated Stephen Decatur 76-39 and captured the championship of the Mount Zion Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday. Abby Lewis led the Normal West scoring parade with 22 points and was named to the all-tournament team, along with teammate Sara Mozingo. Stephen Decatur's Alicia Joyner, who had 7 points and 9 rebounds also was named to the all-tournament. Rounding out the squad were Dottie Bradley and Aim English of Mount Zion, Lori Frahlman of Eisenhower and Mar-gen Murdent of Tolono Unity.

Normal West finished 3-0 in the tournament. Stephen Decatur, Mount Zion and Tolono Unity tied for second, each with a 2-1 record. "Through three quarters, we were competing rather well with a very talented team," Stephen Decatur Coach Bob Moore said. "I would consider Normal West one of the best teams in the state." MOUNT ZION 74 EISENHOWER 62 MOUNT ZION Mount Zion utilized a balanced scoring attack and a pressing defense to gain a 74-62 girls basketball victory over Eisenhower in the Mount Zion Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday. Mount Zion had four players in double figures, including 18 points by Carlin Long, who also had 9 assists.

Dottie Bradley contributed 16 points and 9 steals. "Our defensive effort won the game," Mount Zion Coach Yvonne Boeckmann said. "Our players did a good job of hustling, but we were also a lot quicker. We took over the game in the first half, when our press produced a lot of turnovers." Mount Zion led 39-13 at halftime and coasted from there.
