C28 DECATUR HERALD AND REVIEW Decatur, Illinois, Thursday, November 23, 1978" T.M. Kirk Mrs. Clinton (Ora Dennis) Kirk, 101, of Oblong died 11:25 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong. She was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline Dennis. She was a member of First Christian Church, Oblong. She married Clinton Kirk in 1900. He died in 1951 Surviving are son, Verle of Phoenix, daughter, Mrs.

Glenn (Marjorie) Henry of Oblong; brother, Wyley Dennis of Oblong; sister, Mrs. Anna Snyder of West Salem; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. One son, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Martin Harvey L. Martin, 82, of Newton died 6:10 p.m.

Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in his home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pulliam Funeral Home, Newton. Mr. Martin was born in Yale, son of Oscar and Mary Belle Martin.

He was a veteran of World War I and a retired civil service employee. He married LaxuyJLs Macon County Ehrmantraut Mrs. George (Flora E. Niedermeyer) Ehrmantraut, 80, of Bloomington, mother of G. Walter Ehrmantraut, funeral director, J.J.

Moran Sons Funeral Home, died 8:15 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 21, 1978) in St. Joseph Hospital, Bloomington. Funeral services will be 1 p.m.

Saturday in Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Robert Meadows Meadows Robert Lloyd Meadows, 62, of 1073 West Leafland Ave. died at 6:28 a.m.

Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Brintlinger's Pershing Funeral Home, with visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Meadows was born in Bushnell, a son of Oscar B. and Leila Barrick Meadows.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, was active in Boy Scouts for more than 40 years, past president of the Decatur Camera Club, member of Professional Photographers Association Masonic Lodge Ionic 312. He was formerly a photographer for the Decatur Herald and Daily Review and was a retired photographer from Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Ada Mae Mallinson. Surviving are his wife; daughters, 1 Mrs.

Robert (Patricia Ann) Davis of Libertyville and Mrs. Ilmar (Carolyn Palm-Leis of Decatur; son, Ronald L. Meadows of Savoy and 7 grandchildren. Higgins Willard "Higgie" Higgins, 75, of 3795 Portage Place and formerly of Oreana, died 1:15 a.m. Wednesday (Nov.

22, 1978) in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Dawson Wikoff Funeral Home, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta.

Memorials: Radiology department of Decatur Memorial Hospital or Division of Services, Crippled Children, Champaign. Mr. Higgins was born in Monticello, son of Isaac and Jane Higgins. He was employed by Frede Chevrolet from 1930 to 1947 and then owned and operated Oreana Garage until 1968. He was a charter member of the Oreana Village board, original member and former fire chief of Oreana Fire Department and member of Oreana Christian Church.

He married Sylvia Peck in 1922. Surviving are his wife; son, William of Champaign; brothers, Charles and Lewis, both of Monticello; Harold of Pana; sister, Mrs. Mary Walker of Decatur; two grandchildren; one greatgrandchild. One brother preceded him in death. Roach Robert C.

Roach 51, of Springfield, a 1950 graduate of Millikin University, died 3:46 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 21, 1978) in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. A memorial service was held Wednesday in Sprigfield. Mr.

Roach was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was active in various Springfield organizations, including the Masons. Central Illinois Bright Waverly "Pete" Bright, 73, of Rock-ville, formerly of Tuscola, died 6:10 p.m. Monday (Nov. 20, 1978) in Mercy Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Shrader Funeral Home, Areola. Burial was in Tuscola Cemetery. Mr. Bright was born in Areola, a son of Troy and Ethyl Bright. He was a former USI Chemical Co.

Clifford Mrs. James (Gertrude Malkus) Clifford, 75, of Peoria died 3:33 a.m.

Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in St. Francis Hospital, Peoria. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Wilton Mortuary, Peoria, with a 9:30 a.m.

mass at Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with an 8 p.m. rosary. Graveside services will be in Bement Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Saturday. Memorials: Peoria Area Retarded Citizens Center. Mrs. Clifford was born in Taylorville, daughter of Jacob and Margaret Malkus. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and was executive secretary for Union Carbide Co.

in Chicago and New York offices for 43 years. She married James Clifford in 1941. He died in 1946. Surviving are brother, John E. Malkus of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, J.

Agnes Malkus of Peoria; Mrs. Roy (Helena) Fay of Ivesdale; Mrs. Eugene (Therese) Schneider of Monticello. Daniels Mrs. Thomas (Delia Bales) Daniels, 84, of Shelbyville died 6:30 a.m.

Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in Shelby County Memorial Hosptial, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Lockart Sons Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with visitation 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Mrs. Daniels was born in Shelby County, daughter of Elza and Cathryn Bales. She married Thomas E. Daniels in 1912.

He died in 1945. Surviving are son, Joe of Rib Lake, daughters, Mrs. Pearl Gillestey of Shelbyville; Lorena Smith of Cowden; Mary Zborek of Lafayette, Kath-ryn Griffith of Oakley; Dorothy Washburn of Decatur; 44 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 4 great-greatgrandchildren. One son and one daughter preceded her in death. Elberson Arthur Elberson, 93, of Pana died 2:05 p.m.

Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in Hawthorn Lodge, Pana. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Stumpf-Dodson Funeral Home, Pana, with visitation 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Her-rick. Mr. Elberson was born Forsyth, son of John and Adeline Elberson. He was a retired fireman, also worked for a greenhouse in Pana and was a railroad worker. He married Euna Corley, who died in 1952.

Surviving are son, Charles of Springfield; daughters, Harriett Schramm and Fannie Betyold, both of Pana; three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren. One son and two sisters preceded him in death. Everette William C. Everette, 72, of Olney died 3:50 a.m. Wednesday (Nov.

22, 1978) in Lakeview Manor Nursing Home, Cadillac, Mich. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Summers Funeral Home, Olney, with visitation 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney.

He was born in Illinois, son of Alton and Marjorie Alice Everette. He married Helen Herdes in 1925. She died Oct. 8, 1978. Surviving are sons, Robert of Craig, Harold of West Frankfort; Gerald of Wilmington; daughters, Mrs.

Helen Downing of Aurora, Mrs. Patricia Herman of Cadillac, sister, Mrs. Gail Luther of Olney; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Gass Roy E. "Dutch" Gass, 69, of Mattoon was found dead at 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday (Nov. 21, 1978) in Mattoon. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon, with visitation after 6 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon. Hollowed Herman H. Hollowell, 84, of rural Brocton, died 7:25 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in his home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Borman Funeral Home, Melrose Park, with visitation 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Mount Emblem Cem-tery, Elmhurst. Local visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m.

Friday at Tabor Funeral Home, Oakland, with 8 p.m. Masonic services. He was born in Birdseye, son of William and Mary Hollowell. He was a member of Brocton Christian Church, Oakland Masonic Lodge 219, Oakland Order of Eastern Star 420, and True Kindred of Illinois. He was employed for 45 years by New York Central Railroad.

He married Mary King in 1915. Surviving are his wife; sons, Harold of Tinley Park; George of Stanton, William of McHenry; daughter, Elizabeth Millen of Bell wood; brother, Claude of Clarksville, sister, Sarah Isgrigg of Clarksville, 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. U. S.

Mattingly George H. Mattingly, 51, of rural Newton died 3 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in his home. Funeral services will be 9 a.m.

Saturday in Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with visitation after 4 p.m. Friday, with 7 p.m. rosary. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Newton. Mr.

Mattingly was born in Decatur, son of John and Mildred Schmidt Mattingly. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Newton Moose. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his mother of Newton; brothers, James of Newton; William of Ste. Marie; Michael of Oblong; Patrick of Danville; Francis of West Liberty; sisters, Mrs.

Evangeline Potter and Mrs. Francella Dom, both of Newton; Mrs. Dorothy Bullen of Greenville, Mrs. Phyllis McCluskey of Teutopolis; Mrs. Mildred Flottmann of Areola.

His father and two sisters preceded him in death. Russell Mrs. Hugh (Goldie Nicholson) Russell, 72, of Oblong died 7:05 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 21, 1978) in Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Berlin Cemetery, south of Oblong, with visitation after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, and 7 p.m. memorial services at First Baptist Church, Oblong. Shuff Edgar C.

Shuff, 71, of Shelbyville died 10:15 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in Shelby County Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Howe Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with visitation 4 to 8:30 p.m.

Friday and an 8 p.m. Masonic service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. He was born in Shelby County, son of Roy and Stella Shuff. He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge 53, Shelbyville, Jackson Chapter 55 of the Royal Arch Masons, Shelbyville Chapter 69 of the Order of Eastern Star and the Royal and Select Masters of Mattoon Council 10.

Surviving are his wife; son, Roy of Shelbyville; stepson Raymond Fulte of Metamora; brother, Lee of Shelbyville; sisters, Pearl Carlson of Batavia; Edith Johnson of Geneva; five grandchildren. Stanley Fred B. Stanley, 71, of Mattoon died 1:30 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in St.

Joseph Hospital, Chicago. Arrangements are incomplete at Mit-chell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon. Mr. Stanley was born in Mattoon, son of John B. and Lavada Stanley.

He was a retired auto painter. He married Cleo C. Garrett in 1932. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Mrs. Frank (Janet) Diaz of Chicago; brother, Frank of St.

Louis; sister, Mrs. Merle Grider of Mattoon; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Wente Walter H. Wente, 72, of Teutopolis died 11 a.m. Wednesday (Nov.

22, 1978) in his home. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Francis Catholic Church, Teutopolis, with visitation 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home, Teutopolis, with 7 p.m.

parish rosary and 8 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Burial will be in St Francis Cemetery, Teutopolis. Mr. Wente was born in Effingham County, son of Frank and Theresa Wente.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Effingham Council 665 of Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He married Harriett Springer in 1931. Surviving are his wife; sons, Donald and LeRoy, both of Effingham; Gerald and Arthur, both of Teutopolis; Wayne of Freeland, daughter, Mrs. Andrew T.

(Mary Lou) Esker of Florissant, brothers, Quirinus "Pete" of Teutopolis; Virgil of Effingham; half brothers, Francis "of Sigel; Richard of Teutopolis; 18 grandchilden. One brother and two grandchildren preceded him in death. Wilmert Ralph Wilmert, 78, of Peoria, formerly of Lincoln, died 12:30 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1978) in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
