The wind made it a little tough for Hanshew to control Matilda's Frisbee at times, but she said it was nice to have such a good day for the parade. "To me, St. Patrick's Day means spring," said Hanshew, who is preparing Matilda for her next parade and upcoming dog shows this spring. The pair also took part in last year's St. Patrick's Day and Decatur Celebration parades.

As in the past, the Run to Lock Stock kicked off the proceedings 15 minutes before the parade began with runners dashing from the start of the parade route to Lock, Stock and Barrel on Decatur's West End. Once the parade got under way, spectators were greeted by marchers ranging from bagpipers to soccer players and politicians. A member of the Knights of Columbus portrayed St. Patrick. There was plenty of candy to pick up from the street and green beads to be handed out.

With the April 5 election approaching, politicians in the parade included city council and school board candidates and their supporters. A group of Robertson Charter School students and faculty were the grand marshals. The contingent included those riding on a float and walking followed by those in a school bus with its lights flashing SCHEDULE YOUR NEXT EYE HEALTH EXAM AT Fme From Large Group of Fashion Styles www.b ardoptical.com coupon per patknt per purchase. They still managed to mix in a little green with the accessories they wore.

"I love St. Patrick's Day," said Deeria Honorable, an eighth-grader and cheerleader who has attended Robertson since she was in fifth grade. "Green is one of my favorite colors." The celebration didn't end with the parade. Much of the crowd made their way to the Knights of Columbus Hall to continue the festivities with food, drinks and music. A group of downtown businesses was organizing a St.

Patty's Day Celebration for those wanting to party into the evening. The participating restaurants were providing Irish-style cuisine and drink specials. and stop sign out. "It's an honor to be chosen to lead this thing," Robertson Principal Cordell Ingram said. "We're excited to have all the kids who came out." Ingram said the parade capped a busy week for the school that included Illinois Standards Achievement Tests and a swimming program at the Decatur Family YMCA.

The school's boys basketball team also recently won a state championship. "The kids all had a ball this week," Ingram said. "It's wonderful to be in a school that's so alive." The students were excited to receive the recognition. It was the second time a group from the school had participated in the St. Patrick's Day parade, Ingram said.

"It feels really good," said eighth-grader Seth Sturdi-vant, a member of the basketball team. QJt.fPQQSEIIRQJVL 2 69! The only exception is if the information reveals the freshman is in danger; then the senior should go to an adult.
