Florence was born on April 5, 1934 in Carlinville, IL the daughter of Edgar William and Neta G. Florence (Woods) ChalCorn lans. She retired from the Kelly's Potato Chip Company. Surviving are her sons, Michael Chaney (Barb) of Purdon, TX; William Keith Powell of Lovington; Darrell Lee Powell (Rose) daughters, Darlene A.

White (Tom) of Alvarado, TX; Sharon Wright (Ray) of Decatur; brother, Edgar Challans of Decatur; Donna Evans (Morris) of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, 27 greatgrandchildren, and 4 greatgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Corn, son, Terry Joe Chaney, two sisters, Bernice Singleton, and Doris Coley, and one granddaughter. The family would like to thank the staff at McKinley Court Nursing Home for all their care of Florence. Jim was born January 10, 1919 in Peoria, IL, the son of August and Verla Hofstetter. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and received two Bronze Stars for combat operations and bravery. He married Evelyn Fuller and after her death he married Lois Braughton Wiseman August 8, 1970.

Jim retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was in Planning and New Facilities at the Decatur, IL Plant. He also was Plant and tooling Manager in Melbourne, Australia in 1981. He was a Caterpillar Employee for forty-two years. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He enjoyed his friends and love of golf. He was a former member of South Side Country Club in Decatur, and of Northdale Golf and Country Club of Tampa, Florida where he moved after retirement. He also enjoyed being a member of Golden before moving to Florida. He leaves behind his wife Lois of Decatur, sons Ronald and wife Cheryl and Jim and wife Anna all of Lake Havasu, Arizona, step-daughters Sheila Turner of Decatur and Pamela Knight and husband Jim of Tampa, Florida, stepson Terry Wiseman of Danville, Illinois, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a great-greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.

and Gladys Mae (Highfill) Smith Jr. He graduated high school from Wood River High School and went on to graduate in 1959 from the University of Illinois with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He had received scholarships for academics and had worked continuously to put himself through school. While at the of he joined the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, and had met his wife Judith Lynn White. They remained happily married for the remainder of Frank's life, a total of 51 years.

Following his graduation he went to work at the Shell Oil Company in Wood River. Later, they moved to Menasha, WI where he worked at Appleton Coated Paper Company. He then moved to Decatur to assist in taking care of both sets of parents in the East Alton and Champaign, IL. Once back in Decatur, Frank worked at A Staley Company in the starch division and was originator of the Ethanol Division at Staley's. He retired from Staley's but continued to work as a stock trader for over twenty five years.

He loved to ski, bowl, and build, but he loved his family more than anything. He loved his bowling leagues, both singles and couples. His other love was building. He helped design both houses and worked on bulldozers, nothing stopped him. If he didn't know how to do something, he would buy a book and build it.

He also loved boating, skiing and saucer riding, and playing bridge. He was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed the competition of playing. He is survived by his loving wife: Judith of Decatur; daughters: Susan May Smith of Mt. Zion and her children: Ben, Jennifer, Grace and Anna; and Sheryl Smith Ferry and her husband Tim of Kenosha, WI and their children: John, Ellen, Sam, Max and Jack. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews residing in Indiana.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his only son George F. Smith IV who was called home to be with the Lord two years ago. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Pastor Randall Garrett and his wife Starla. Also, their sincere gratitude to Dr. Sobol, Dr.

Valasco, DMH, Kindred Hospital, St. John's Hospital, Dr. Rodhe, Dr. Waputi, Dr. Salado and their staffs for the compassion and care shown to Frank during his illness.

and Mary (Veech) Bauer, in Neoga, Illinois. On April 30, 1955, he married the love of his life, Velma M. Hammitt. Together, they attended the Church of Christian Science. Burl was a former member of the Mattoon Lion's Club and the Lincoln Trails Toastmasters Club.

He worked as a plant manager for Young Radiator Company for 34 years. Burl was a World War II Veteran and achieved the status of First Lieutenant in the Chemical Corps for the United States Army. He was very passionate about reading, especially poetry. Burl and Velma loved to travel, particularly to see the beauty of the mountains. Together they traveled to all 50 states, all Providences of Canada, and many countries Europe.
