II Gifts of Good Taste are found at Breeden's -An art exhibit and competition for high school students, similar to the regional show sponsored by the "Art Center, will be presented in Decatur Feb. 26 to March 12 for high school students of Central and Southern Illinbis. It will be sponsored by Linn and Scruggs store and the exhibit will be housed in the store. J. R.

Holt is Linn's president and is actively interested in the project Regional winners will receive gold achievement keys and certificates of merit. Pieces selected by a jury will go to Pittsburgh for tne national competition in Carnegie Institute, to compete for thousands of dollars in prizes and 90 scholarships to leading art schools. The competition is open to entries in many classes of art, creative, pictorial, graphic design, commercial posters, costume design, sculpture, ceramics, crafts, photog-graphy. i Similar regional exhibits will be in Evanston, Peoria. St.

Louis, and elsewhere, in 40 areas and sponsored by as many stores. The aim is to develop the artistic possibilities of teen-agers by offering them concrete encouragement. An advisory committee is headed by Miss Norma L. Edgecombes of Warrensburg Are Married 48 Years Mr. and Mrs. Sam E. Edgecombe of near Warrensburg will have open house next Sunday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 8 p.

m. at the home of their daugher, Ms. Harry H. Duncan, in Latham, to celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary. They were married in Decatur at the home of Mrs.

Edgecombe's parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charly Wheeler, and have lived in this vicinity since, with the exception of three years in Canada. Mr. Edgecombe has always farmed and is still active on his 320 acre farm, with his son, Sam, assisting.

They have nine sons and two daughters.
