Refugees From Bad Weather Tuesday morning's weather was. Illinois at its worst, just as day was this state at its best. Tuesday made most Decaturites wish they were packed and ready to leave at once for California Cr Florida or some other sunny place, and speeded up the plans of a few who are actually going. One of the most extensive trips is that planned by Mr. and Mrs.

H. J. Mackay, who are going down to Texas, on to Mexico City for a sight seeing trip, and then possibly out to California. Mr. and Mrs.

H. D. Greider are going down to Florida soon to visit their son in law and daughter. Mr. Mrs.

James Walsh Kennedy. Mrs. Alma Rothfuss is going to Florida also. Mr. and Mrs.

Archie Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. John Schudel are others who are planning excursions to Florida to seek sunshine and warmth. Mr. and Mrs.

Roy Christy got away Monday, the day before the arrival of the ice storm, and are now well on their way to Tucson, for a winter vacation. Friends of Yore Club Postpone Meeting Flight to Sunny Climates Is Well Underway Business Women Hear of State Laws and Needs The Illinois state flower, bird and tree. the violet, cardinal and oak, were used in decorations night for the Business and Professional Women's club dinner in the Decatur club, for which the subject was state legislation. Miss Hazel Kyrk of the University of Chicago economics department was the speaker, discussing state legislation on food. drugs and cosmetics, and regulation of instalment selling and savings banks.

Bowls of violets, and little bunches tied to the white candles, were used on the tables with cardinal bird stickers, sprays of oak leaves, and small state maps for placecards. The D. A. state flag, the only one in Decatur, was borrowed and featured. The club voted $20 from its treasury to go to national headquarters toward the fund being raised to send a rolling kitchen to Great Britain, such as the Treasure Shop is collecting money for in Decatur.

New members voted upon were: Annette Van Dyke, director of the new Millikin ballet theater. Miss Charline McDonald, Macon County Home Bureau adviser. Mrs. Lawrence Thrift, Connecticut Mutual Life insurance company. Mrs.

Ruth M. Thorne, Swedish massage salon. Mrs. Esther Lasky was in charge of decorations. Music was by Miss Annabelle Voigt, violinist, accompanied by Miss Eunice Voigt.

Mrs. Henry Rex, Mrs. George Shaffer, and Mrs. Marion Smith installing officers when Myrtle Temple No. 2, Pythian Sisters, had the installing ceremonies for Mrs.

B. W. Ames most excellent chief, and her staff Monday. Gifts were presented to Mrs. Mildren Moran, past chief, and Mrs.

Ames. Mrs. Moran received a in with the Pythian Sisters emblem upon it. A program was given by the past chief's club. Red Wing club, Degree of Pocahontas, will have a public party Wednesday at 2:15 p.

will give a shower in honor of Mrs. Del Thomas in the home of her mother, Mrs. Henry Schenck. 2179 North Union street, Wednesday afternoon. Miss Gertrude Von Riesen, director of religious education in public schools, will be guest speaker for Washington P-T.

A. Friday at 3 p. m. in the school auditorium. Her subject will be "The Place of Religion in Education." Mothers whose children will leave the school for junior high next semester will be honored.

There will be selection of the nominating committee. Woman's Progressive club will meet Wednesday at 2 p. m. with Mrs. Robert Thompson, 890 South Water street.

Farmer City Womans club will meet Friday at 7:30 p. m. at the Franklin School. The program will include talk by Mrs. Julia Hayden, on modern poetry and book comment by Mrs.

Prentice McKenzie. Both are from Chicago and members may take guests. Screw-Ball-Eight club will meet Thursday at 1 p. m. with Mrs.

Morgan P. O'Brien of Springfield, formerly of Decatur when Mr. O'Brien was city engineer, have announced the engagement of their daughter Mabel and Lieut. Benedict T. Schwar of Fort Riley, a student in the cavalry school there.

The wedding will be Feb. 22, in St. Rose of Lima church in Kansas City, and they will live at Camp Livingston, Alexandria, after March 15. Miss O'Erien attended schools in Decatur and later went to the University of Illinois where she is a member of Pi Lambda Sigma. Lieut.

Schwar, son of Joseph Schwar of Camp Butler near Springfield, also attended the University of Illinois and is a member of Phi Kappa. The bride's sister Rosalind was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Mary Lou O'Neal, Anna Mae Sullivan of Mattoon, and Rosemary Real of Wilmette, in ivory brocaded faille with colonial bouquet of sweetpeas and roses. and bonnets of nile green with shoulder length veils of tulle. Best man was Thomas Suddes of Springfield, and ushers were James Roberts and Douglas Werden of Mattoon, and William Cremin of Chicago. Dr. Richard Tivnen of Chicago gave his niece in marriage.
