TUSCOLA SOLDIER SURVIVES WOUND Tuscola (Special) A Tuscola soldier has recovered from head wounds suffered more than a month ago when he was struck by a sniper's bullet as he prepared to bathe in a stream in a mountainous region of Thailand. William Adkisson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl M. Adkisson of rural Tuscola, was carried on an elephant from the area where he was hit and later was taken to a hospital by jeep.

Adkisson then was taken about 800 miles to an Army hospital in Saigon for treatment. He was returned to Thailand, which is considered a non-combat area.
