Hogge TAYLORVILLE Leta Belvia Dowdy Hogge, 69, of rural Palmer died 2:26 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 28, 1986) in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Services will be 10 a.m.

Tuesday in Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville, with visitation 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, Palmer. Mrs. Hogge was born in Byrds-town, daughter of Wesley and Bertha Dowdy.

Surviving are her sons, Jerry of Taylorville; Kerby of Chicago; daughters, Mrs. Lee Don (Catherine) Vaughn of Taylorville: Mrs. Carl (Janice) Tucker and Marie Sheedy, both of Taylorville; Mrs. Minor (Joyce) Dishon of Stonington; Mrs. Ron (Julitta) Harrison of Blue Mound; Mrs.

Knarr, 69, of Starkville, formerly of Greenville, died 10 p.m. Friday (Aug. 29, 1986) in Oktibbeha County Hospital, Starkville. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesdav in Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home.

Greenville, with visitation after 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery, Greenville. Memorials: Heart Fund. Mr.

Knarr was born in Smithbo-ro, son of George and Lela Daught ery Knarr. He had operated Knarr Contracting in St. Louis, Mo. He married Dorothy Dixon in 1941. Surviving are his wife; son, Rich of Midlothian, sister, Vada Fisher of Decatur; mother of Greenville; four grandchildren.

His father and one son preceded him in death. Worthy MULBERRY GROVE Mrs Finis (Catherine Daub) Worthy. 93, of Biloxi, formerly of Alton and Mulberry Grove, died 12:03 p.m Friday (Aug. 29, 1986) in Gulf Coas; Community Hospital, Biloxi. Services will be 1 p.m.

Monday in Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. Greenville, with visitation after 4 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Mcln turff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Mrs.

Worthy was born in Kirk-wood, Mo. She was a member ol Alton Free Methodist Church. She married Rev. Finis O. Worthy.

He died in 1941. Surviving are her sons, Harold 'of Brandon, Carl of Heber Springs, daughters. Mrs. Raymond (Hilda) Franz of Biloxi. Mrs.

Hafliger TAYLORVILLE Mrs. Dennis (Ina B. Steele) Hafliger, 90, of Taylorville died 3:35 p.m. Friday (Aug. 30.

1986) in Taylorville Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Mrs.

Hafliger was born in Louisville, daughter of Theodore and Mary Steele. She was a saleslady at Blakey's Department Store, Taylorville, and a member of First Baptist Church, Taylorville. She married Dennis A. Hafliger. He died in 1953.

Surviving are her son, Donald L. of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; daughter, Ramona Foil of Taylorville: nine grandchildren; eight One daughter preceded her in death. Hamlin NOKOMIS Cletus L. Hamlin, 66; of Nokomis died 2:30 p.m. Friday (Aug.

29, 1986) in his home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Sunday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Burial will be in Bilyeu OWANECO Richard A. Bilyeu, 44, of Owaneco died 3:18 p.m. Friday (Aug. 29, 1986) in his home.

There will be no services. The body was cremated. Connolly-'McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bilyeu was born in Ontario, Canada, son of Leo M.

and Julia Speagle Bilyeu. He was a coal miner and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Donna Tex in 1959. Surviving are his wife; sons, Burton of Morrisonville: Mike and Tony, both of Owaneco; daughter. Mrs.

Jurgen (Gertie Pollmann) Broers. 86, of No-komis died 3:40 p.m. Fridav (Aug. 29. 1986) in Hillsboro Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul Lutheran Church. No-komis. Burial will be in St.

Paul's Cemetery. Memorials: St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund. Mrs. Broers was born in Selver-de.

Germany, daughter of Gerhard and Elina Pollmann. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She married Jurgen Broers in 1928. He died in 1976.

Surviving are her son. Elmer of Nokomis; daughter. Mrs. Wayne (Elaine) Kuethe of Witt; brothers. Martin and Christian, both of Germany Martha Rademacher of Danville: Antge Garrels and Ger-hrdine Busher, both of Germany: six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Six brothers and one grandchild preceded her in death. Ellis MULBERRY GROVE Mrs. Leo (Opal G. Snow) Ellis, 86, of Mulberry Grove died 4 a.m. Saturday (Aug.

30, 1986) in Utlaut Memorial Hospital, Greenville. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ripperdan-Schildknecht Funeral Home, Mulberry Grove, with visitation after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mulberry Grove Cemetery.

Memorials: Heart Fund. Mrs. Ellis was born in Bond County, daughter of James and Lu-cetta Snow. She was a former bookkeeper for Beesley Garage and Son-neman Lumber Yard, Mulberry Grove, and a member of First Baptist Church, Mulberry Grove. She married Alma Beesley.

She married Leo Ellis in 1937. He died in 1965. Surviving are her sons. Junior Beesley of Mulberry Grove; daughter, Mrs. Max (Kay) Wehrle of Mulberry Grove; brother, Asa of Cof-feen; sisters, Tura Grisham and Ai-lene Snow, both of Greenville; Ruth Kimbro of Coffeen; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Gingerich ARTHUR Ben W. Gingerich. 59, of Arthur died 10:45 p.m. Friday (Aug.

29, 1986) in his home. Services will be 9 a.m. Monday in the Gingerich residence, rural Arthur, with visitation any time in the residence. Burial will be in Otto Cemetery, Arthur. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gingerich was born in Wol-ford, N.D., son of John C. and Leah Gingerich. He was a farmer and a member of Old Order Amish Church. He married Sovilla Yoder in 1949.

Surviving are his wife; sons. Sa-ranus of Areola; Eli of Arthur; Mar-lin of Areola; Marcus of Arthur; Steven at home; daughters, Mrs. Omer (Susanna) Jess of Lovinton; Mrs. Lewis J. (Katie Ellen) Yoder of Lovington; Mrs.

Gary A. (Jane) Nokomis Cemetery.1 Mr. Hamlin was born in Nokomis-, son of William and Nora Hamlin. He was a farmer and heavy equipment operator and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He married Marcella Harbert in 1939. She died in 1964. He married Odelia Crowe in 1968. Surviving are his wife; sons, Larry, Lester and Lyn, all of Nokomis; daughters, Mrs. Clem (Doris) Huber of Nokomis; Mrs.

Maryln (Darlene) Uri of West Plains, stepson, Terry Crowe of Rosamond; stepdaughters, Mrs. Roy (Chris) Mashaney of Bartonvil-le; Cynthia Crowe of Arlington Heights; half brother, Palmer Hamlin of Tinley Park; four grandchildren. Hayes, 82, of Ramsey died 9:05 p.m. Friday (Aug. 29, 1986) in his home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Winter was born in Decatur, son of Carl and Helen Winter. He was manager of quality assurance at A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company for 29 years, a member of St. Frances DeSales Catholic Church, Moweaqua, and the Army Reserve.

He married Marilyn Mochel in 1958. Surviving are his wife; son. Rob at home; daughter, Beth at home; brother, James of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother of Decatur; one grandchild. His father preceded him in death. research "Cultures turnedip missing decontaminated," he told the news- paper.

Johnson Dr. Chester T. Johnson, 70, of Decatur died 9:28 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 27, 1986) in St.

Dr. Johnson was born in DeFor-est, son of Irwin and Rhoda Johnson. He was a physician in Decatur and Macon County for 40 years. He was a member of the American Medical Association, First Lutheran Church and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He married Harriette P.

Weyant in 1942. Surviving are his wife; son, Eric T. of Houston, Texas; daughter. Connie J. Trammell of Decatur: three grandchildren.

Morrison Mrs. Herman (Gladys) Morrison, 73, of Lexington, formerly of Decatur, died 11:55 p.m. Friday (Aug. 29, 1986) in Lexington. Arrangements are incomplete at Brintlinger's Pershing Funeral Home.

Willis Robert "Bob" E. Willis 60. of Decatur died Friday (Aug. 29. 1986) in St.

Mary's Hospital. slow ers. He said that when Curran blocked his report in 1984, he began distributing his findings on his own. giving them to congressmen and others. His research was public by February 1985.

Curran said he blocked the paper because it "needed to be rewritten." A venereal disease specialist, Curran was appointed head of the agency's multimillion-dollar program soon after AIDS was identified in 1981. He told the newspaper he had no knowledge of sabotaged experiments, that research was not suppressed and that research papers are not falsely authored. "AIDS is an important problem and so many aspects need reporting, I hate to see things distract from that," Curran said. A former CDC lab expert who asked not to be named described how some experiments were tampered with. Etherton Mrs.

Dennis (Mary Lou Hefflin) Etherton of Decatur died 8:55 p.m. Friday (Aug. 29. 1986) in St. Mary's Hospital.

-Nation MIAMI (AP) Dissension among AIDS experts at the national Centers for Disease Control has led to the suppression of research, sabotaged experiments and the loss of key workers, according to a newspaper report Saturday. Dr. James Curran, head of the CDC's AIDS program, denies the allegations. "There is a long history of bad politics and unhappy people over there. I can't begin to unravel Dr.

Steven McDougal, head of an unrelated immunology lab at the federal institute in Atlanta, told The Miami Herald. Curran is at the center of the controversy, scientists said. Among their complaints is that Curran has temporarily blocked publication of research, including one paper that showed commercially available spermicides kill the AIDS virus within 60 seconds. Bruce Voeller, a researcher at the Mariposa Foundation in Pasadena, initiated the spermicide study conducted by CDC research I Squabbles Lottery.
