He won a spot on the Georgia Tech freshman basketball roster as a "walk-on" but, he commented, "I didn't play very much." For a time Sitton's basketball career Charleston Eastern Ulinois's Dave Sitton scores as well in the classroom as on the basketball court. Last season he earned such basketball credentials as all-conference team member, co-most valuable player and EIU team captain. Now, prowess in toe classroom has earned him academic honors. Sitton, a starting forward for two seasons, was among 27 students who graduated with honors Saturday at the winter quarter commencement.

Sitton, from College Park, received a bachelor of science degree with a double major in mathematics and physics. To earn honors a graduate must have at least a 3.4 grade average, with 4.0 representing straight A's. By the Associated Press Let it be me, says Johnny Dee. "I dont see how the NCAA can ignore us in their postseason tournament," the Notre Dame basketball coach says. Dee's arguments include a 17-7 record in one of the country's toughest, college basketball schedules.

"Everybody is ready for Notre Dame," Dee said after his team's Saturday night 92-79 waltz over St. John's of New York. If 19th-ranked Notre Dame is wondering about post-season tournaments, Penn and Western Kentucky don't have to worry any more. Fourth-ranked Penn plowed Yale 93-63 to win the Ivy League and No. 9 Western Kentucky murdered Murray State 73-59 to gain its second straight Ohio Valley Conference crown.
