Red Cross personnel will be instructed in the terminology and the 10 standard signals used, so any of them may transmit information in time of emergency. Should power fail in Decatur, the Red Cross has an emergency generator which would give service to any of nine counties for which the Decatur Red Cross would be responsible. Long range plans include the addition of a portable station.

Martin also hopes to add a bus, complete with mobile communication equipment and emergency kitchen facilities.
