July 5, 1936. DECATUR SUNDAY HERALD AND REVIEW Newcomer Women Having Luncheon in Sunnyside Auxiliary of the Newcomers club will have a bridge luncheon Wednesday in Sunnyside Golf club. Luncheon will be served at 1 p. and auction and contract bridge will be played in the afternoon. Mrs.

Brown, Mrs. I. R. Holmes, Men and Mrs. N.

D. of the Newcomers club will have a stag dinner Monday evening in South Side Country club. Picnic Tuesday for 0. B. Violet Club 0.

B. Violet club will give its annual picnic Tuesday noon in Nelson park. Each member is asked to bring bread and butter sandwiches, a covered dish and table service. Hostesses will be Mrs. Delia Joly, Mrs.

Mae Ryan, Mrs. Fannie Withrow and Mrs. Ethelda Belke. Mrs. Roscoe M.

Brown is the former Jeanette Norris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Norris of Anna, Ill. Mr.

Elm Grove Club to Meet in Country the approaching marriage of their daughter, Virginia waite, to Leslie M. Cochran of Los Angeles, formerly of Decatur, son of Mrs. Preston Ruthrauff, 433 West Green street.

Miss Waite is leaving Decatur July 18 and is to be married July 27 in Sacred Heart Catholic church in Los Angeles by Rev. Fr. Vincent Lloyd Russell. The couple will live in Los Angeles. Miss Wait was graduated in 1930 from Decatur high school.

She is employed by the S. S. Kresge company. Mr. Cochran attended tur high school and is now employed by the Santa Fe railroad in Los Angeles.

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Grady have as their weekend guests the former's nephews, Martin Grady, and Fred Grady, of Minneapolis, Minn.

Both young men attend the University of Minnesota. Mrs. Grady returned Friday from Chicago where she passed last week. Bramhalls Moving to Indianapolis Emogene Bramhall of Mrs. Richard Christian was Mary Tebbe before her marriage June 26 in St.

Smith for her matron of honor and only attendant. Mrs. Smith is the former Margery Johnson. Milton Murphy will be best man. Announcement of the engagement was made June 21, and since then the bride to be has been honored in parties.

Mrs. Smith will give a buffet supper this Monday, evening in her home in William street. Mr. Miller, the future bridegroom, is a son of Mr. and Mrs.

S. Past Matrons Having Picnic Tuesday The annual picnic given by the Past Worthy Matrons club for Decatur chapters, Order of the Eastern Star, will be in Nelson park pavilion Tuesday. Regular meeting of the club be at 4 p. and the supper be 6:30 p. m.

A. Back are leaving this morning for a week's vacation in the West. They are driving to Wyoming by of the Black Hills, will visit relatives and see the famous rodeo, and will pass a month on a dude ranch in the mountains 65 miles from Sheridan. Jeanette Norris Is Bride of R. M.

Brown Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Norris of Anna, announce the marriage of their daughter, Jeanette Norris of Decatur, to Roscoe M. Brown, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Brown, 128 South Jasper street. The wedding ceremony was last May 26 in Bloomington. The bride graduated from AnnaJonesboro community high school in 1933 and is employed by the S. S.

Kresge company in Decatur. Mr. Brown was graduated in 1932 from Decatur high school and is employed by the Wabash railroad. He and his bride live at 862 North Warren street. Mr.

and Mrs. Arthur E. Eaton and daughter, Kathleen of Omaha, passed several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. F.

C. Rich, who formerly lived in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Eaton and daughter left Saturday morning for their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Grover C. Gebhart left Saturday for Alexandria, to go to their summer. cottage where they have gone for the last 12 summers.

Their cottage is near Lake Miltonia, where weather is cool and pleasant during summer months. Marian Holderby and Lovell Sidener Marry Marian Holderby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W.

Holderby, 1216 West King street, and Lovell Sidener, son of Mrs. J. A. Page, 1413 East Walnut street, were married June 30 in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, by Rev. O.

C. Johnson. Families and friends attended, and Mr. and Mrs. J.

A. Page were attendants. The bride is a high school graduate of 1931, and both are employed at the Decatur Garment company. They are living in 1344 East Marietta street. Mrs.

George D. Steele, 901 West Macon street, joined Mr. and Mrs. 0. 0.

Both auction and contract bridge will be played, and after the play a buffet supper will be served. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Larrick are chairmen of the the committee in charge. The committee ask that reservations be made to the club house if possible, but reservations are not necessary to attend the party.

Legion Women Meet in Armory Tomorrow American Legion auxiliary will conduct its July at 7:30 p. Monday in unmeeting, less the weather is extremely warm. If the temperature is high, the meeting will be in Fairview park. Four delegates to state convention will be elected. Virginia Waite is to become the bride July 27 of Leslie M.

McGlade. Miss McGlade was a graduate this year of the University of Illinois and her parents came for commencement. Since that time they have been visiting relatives in Illinois, and arrived last Monday in Decatur. They will leave the middle of the week to drive to Ohio and then on to the East. Virginia Waite to Wed Former Decatur Man Mr.

and Mrs. Joseph Waite, 1741 North Warren street, announce DeMolay Defeats 4th of July Heat, Dances at Sunrise Seventy-five couples attended the DeMolay Fourth of July sunrise dance Saturday from 5 to 8 a. m. in South Side Country club. The party also honored 17 young men who left later Saturday morning for Kansas City where they will attend the first DeMolay founders convention and national conclave Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Seven thousand members are expected to attend. Young men who went to Kansas City are Carl Swartz, Walter Murfin, Delmont Parks, Archie Norton, Roy Swartz, Roy Johnston, James Worsham, Robert Culley, Robert Ellison, Alex Van Praag, William and Jack Burns, W. E. Hartman, advisor, Ribley Trimble, Dudley Buckley, and Errol Odor. After the conclave they will go to the Ozarks to pass the remainder of the week.

Lee Homebrook's orchestra played for dancing, and the couples had breakfast afterward. Martha Allene Blakeney gave a breakfast after the dance in her home in Spangler Heights honoring Lucien Segar of California, who is passing the summer here with relatives. couples attended. Polly and Cooper of SpringTwelve, field also were out of town guests. Another group of 35 couples had breakfast at Peck's Wander Inn following the dance.

Having Joint Dance Catholic Daughters of America and Knights of Columbus jointly are sponsoring a summer dance in South Side Country club the Friday evening of July 17. Maude Bockner's orchestra has been engaged to play from 9:30 to 12:30. Francis Moran and Mrs. Francis Walker are chairmen from the two organizations and they or other members will have tickets for sale. Mrs.

Woodrow Edwards, a July 4 bride, is the former Anna Marie Kamm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamm, 545 South weekend with friends. They will return the first of the week. Miss Daisy Cohee, 335 Mercer street, is passing the weekend in Peru with her sister.

Miss Cohee formerly lived in Peru. Anna Marie Kamm Is Bride of W. Edwards Anna Marie Kamm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kamm, 545 South Nineteenth street, and Woodrow Edwards were married at 6 p.

Saturday in the home of bride's parents by Rev. Mr. Richardson. The bride attended Decatur high school, and is an employe of the Chocolate shop. Mr.

Edwards is employed by the Decatur club. The couple will live in a house at the corner of Church and Garfield streets. Prince Family Leaving for North Mrs. Harold R. Prince and children plan to leave Monday for Long Lake, Altena, to pass the remainder of the summer at their cottage there, where they have been going for several years.

Mrs. Prince and the five children, Betty, Roswell, James, Peggy and Susanne will drive to their cottage which is near Lake Huron. Mr. Prince will join his family the first of August for a three weeks vacation. They will accompany him back to Decatur.

Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Sommer of Chicago came this weekend to visit the latter's parents, Mr.

and Mrs. F. F. Burns. Mr.

Sommer will return to his home this evening. Mrs. Sommer, who was formerly Gladys Burns, will pass two weeks with her parents. Decatur W. C.

T. U. Having Picnic Decatur Women's Christian Temperance Union will meet Wednesday evening in Fairview park. A picnic supper will be served promptly at 6:30 p. m.

in the park pavilion. Several selections of music and short talks will be given in the program after supper. The program will be closed with the presentation of a playlet by young people of the Youths' Temperance council. Visitors will be welcome. Each member is asked to bring a covered dish, sandwiches, a quart of sweetened tea table service.
