Inquiry into "teaching.

of subversive doctrines in state educational activities" was asked in a bill filed in the General Assembly yesterday by Rep. John W. Lewis (R-Marshall). In a separate measure, Rep. Harold R.

Blomstrand (R-Chicago) sought creation of a commission to investigate seditious, subversive or un-American activities. Lewis said he had heard "rumors" that subversive doctrines were taught at the University of Illinois and in State Normal schools. He said one object of the proposed investigation was to determine "degrees to which subversive and communistic doctrines are subscribed to by teachers, instructors or professors." Also offered was a measure by Rep. Nick Keller (R-Waukegan) urging voluntary fingerprinting of school children as an identification safeguard. Petition Backs Moulden As Tuscola Councilman Tuscola, March 6 (Staff) Supporters of Roy Moulden, inhere cumbent whose alderman four-year in term First will ward pire this spring, are circulating a petition to nominate him for the two remaining years in the unexpired term of Cecil Tate who has moved from the ward.

Moulden, who previously announced he was not interested in running again for a council post, said he "probably will" accept the citizens' backing. He will be opposed in the election by Elza Smith, who has filed his bid for candidacy. Ott Twiford, who has filed for re-election to a full four-year term as Third ward alderman, was not expected to have any opposition, although deadline for filing is not until next Tuesday. Other aldermanic aspirants are P. J.

Williamson and Paul Flesor for the Fourth ward and Robert Collwell for the Second. The council here is represented by two alderman from each ward. Frank Michener and Lawrence Allen are serving unexpired terms from the Third and Second. Jury Convicts Wapella Man on Drunk Driving Clinton, March 6 (Staff) Worley O. WANTED AT ONCE! Science Finds New Germ-Killer Bacitracin Even Overshadows Penicillin Chicago, March 6 (AP) A new germ-killing agent called bacitracin, developed after nearly four years of research, was reported today to have been used successfully in treatment of infections and so powerful that out of 100 patients on whom it was tried 62 were saved from surgery. Among the infections successfully treated by bacitracin, said the physicians who developed the antibiotic, were boils, carbuncles, sties and ulcers. They reported results were "so speedy they surprised both the patient and the physician." Use of the germ-killer either obviated surgery or speed- ROBUST YOUTH PICKUPS. Bacitracin, now made up in ointment form that melts at body temperature, was reported in an article of the Journal of the American Medical Association as being effective against many of the same as penicillin.

But 30 organisms were resistant to penicillin and responded to bacitracin, while six were resistant to bacitracin and susceptible to Some organisms were resistant to both. The new agent was developed from a germ found in the infected wound of Margaret Tracy, 7, who had suffered a compound leg fracture. The germ was subjected to ordinary culture mediums and found to produce a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity. Tests conducted at the Presbyterian hospital in New York by Dr. Frank L.
